Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday, officially launched the HeforShe campaign to integrate the rehabilitated Chibok girls and other survivors of gender-based violence in the country.
About 106 Chibok girls had so far been released by the Boko Haram sect out of the over 200 abducted from a school dormitory about three years ago.
Launching the campaign which will assist in promoting inclusion for women and girls in all aspects of life, Osinbajo said it would make the various survivors to stand up one day boldly to share their stories without any fear or intimidation.
He said due to the various challenges confronting the girl-child, about 40 per cent of the female child were illiterates.
Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Senator Aisha Alhassan, who said the campaign would also be launched in states, said it would also avail men and boys the platform to share their experiences and give women the chance to perform equally with them.
The minister said the launch of the campaign would avail Nigerian men and boys the opportunities and platform to tell their stories to a global audience.
She said the target of the campaign was to secure the commitment of one billion men across the globe to make changes in the support of gender equality and women empowerment.
