About 106 chibok girls have so far been released by the boko Haram sect out of the over 200 girls that were abducted from the school dormitory about three years ago.
Launching the campaign which will assist in promoting inclusion for women and girls in all aspects of life, Osinbajo said it will make the various survivors to stand up on day boldly to share their stories without any fear or intimidation.
He said due to the various challenges confronting the girl child, about 40 percent of the female child are illiterate.
“This campaign we are launching today will assist in putting an end to such incidents and also make the women to be treated equally like their men
“Both religion accepts and preaches the equality of both sexes, it is a biblical thing, the two sex should enjoy equal rights without one being seen as higher or superior to the other” he said
Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Senator Aisha Alhassan who said the campaign will also be launched in states said it will also avail men and boys the platform to share their experiences and give women the chance to perform equally with their female counterpart.
The Minister said the launch of the campaign will avail Nigerian men and boys the opportunities and platform to tell their heroic stories to a global audience.
“You will be able to share the bold, innovative and transforming actions you are taking to share bridge gender gaps and provide unique equalizing opportunities for women, girls and other vulnerable groups in Nigeria.
“We are highly privileged to have his excellency, the acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, a HeforShe champion per excellence in our midst, his distinguished presence is evidential demonstration of Nigeria’s political will and commitment to the advancement of gender equality and women’s empowerment at the highest level.
She said the target of the campaign is to secure the commitment of 1billion men across the globe to make changes in the support of gender equality and women’s empowerment and Nigeria cannot be left out of the noble move.
