The federal government has disclosed pkans to create over 500,000 jobs in skill acquisition, in 2017, as a way of boosting the nation’s economy.

Disclosing this at the National Directorate of Employment Special Day at the ongoing Lagos International Trade Fair, in Lagos, Minister for Labour , Senator Dr. Chris Ngige described the move as one of the federal government’s plans to actively engage the unemployed youths in the country.

He said that the Ministry had already opened a job portal which closed in August, adding that by the end of December 2016, thousands of Nigerians will be selected and trained in the N- Power Train, N-Power Build and N-Power Communication Skills acquisition project, geared reducing unemployment in Nigeria.

He added that 50,000 graduates of Agriculture will be employed to help train farmers in rural areas on how to use seeding and modern agricultural farming.

This,, he said, would help improve agriculture practices in Nigeria.

“The government is doing everything possible to diversify the economy through agriculture and solid mineral sourcing that would create more jobs and help the country recover from recession.

“ If this is not done and the country is allowed to go into depression, Nigerian economy may not recover from the depression.  So the federal government is doing everything in this period of recession to recover and create jobs for our unemployed youths,” the minister stated.
