FG appoints ex-Prisons CG, Ja’afaru Ahmed, as CDCFIB Secretary

The Federal Government has approved the appointment of Ja’afaru Ahmed as the new secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).

This was contained in a statement on Monday in Abuja by the Minister of Interior who doubles as the Chairman of the Board.

Ja’afaru Ahmed, a former Controller-General of Corrections, would replace the late Mrs Aisha Ahmad Rufai, who was the Board Secretary until her death on 20th March 2023.

Ahmed was born on 21st July 1959, in Jega Local Government of Kebbi State, North West Nigeria.

He attended Nasarawa Primary School, Birnin Kebbi in 1972 where he obtained his First School Leaving School Certificate.

He attended Government Secondary School, Birinin Kebbi where he got his West African Examination Certificate in 1976. He attended the College of Arts and Science, Sokoto State for IJMB in 1980 where he proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) in History in 1984

“Mallam Ja’afaru Ahmed was the immediate past Controller General of Nigeria Correctional Services(NCoS) where he recorded many landmark achievements, including; the initiation of the construction of 3000 capacity Custodial Centres in six geopolitical zones in the country.

“He also pioneered the construction of 3000 capacity ultra-modern Custodial Centre in Jangura, Kano in North -West zone,” the statement noted.
