Southern Kaduna People in Diaspora Europe (SOKAPDAE) has described the establishment of a federal university of Applied Sciences, Kachia in Southern Kaduna as a victory for justice, equity and fairness in the distribution of educational resources.

SOKAPDAE, therefore, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Uba Sani, Governor of Kaduna State; Senator Sunday Marshall Katung; Senator Danjuma Laah; and the entire people of Southern Kaduna on the official establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia.

In a statement issued to newsmen in Kaduna by the President and Secretary Casimir Biriyok and Dr Janet Nake respectively on Thursday noted that the establishment of the university represents a historic achievement, not only for Southern Kaduna but for Kaduna State and Nigeria as a whole.

The statement said, “As an organisation committed to the advancement of our people, we are overjoyed by this development and recognize the far-reaching impact that such an institution will have on education, economic growth, and social progress in our region.”

The Diaspora group posited that “for many years, Southern Kaduna has been marginalized in the allocation of federal institutions, despite its immense potential and contributions to national development.

“The establishment of this university is a long-awaited victory and a clear indication that our perseverance and advocacy for inclusion have yielded results.

“The lack of federal educational institutions in Southern Kaduna has historically placed significant barriers to higher education for our youth. Many have had to travel long distances or face financial hardships to access quality tertiary education.

“With the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, we believe that this challenge will be significantly alleviated, allowing more students to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to contribute meaningfully to society.

“We, therefore, celebrate this moment as a victory for justice, fairness, and equity in the distribution of educational resources.

“We extend our sincere appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for signing this important initiative into law. His decision to approve the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, demonstrates a strong commitment to education, regional development, and national progress.

“By granting this university to Southern Kaduna, the President has not only recognized the need for equitable educational opportunities but has also given the people of the region a renewed sense of belonging and hope.

“This university will serve as a beacon of knowledge, skill development, and technological innovation, contributing significantly to the advancement of both Kaduna State and Nigeria.

“We encourage President Tinubu to continue his commitment to educational reforms and to ensure that resources and investments in infrastructure, faculty, and student welfare are adequately provided to make this institution one of the best in the country.

“The establishment of a university of this magnitude does not happen overnight. It is the result of relentless advocacy, strategic planning, and the unwavering commitment of numerous individuals and organisations.

“We wish to acknowledge and express our deep gratitude to the Vice President, His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, Senator Uba Sani, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, Senator Danjuma Laah, Bishop Mathew Kukah, Most Rev. Dr. Matthew Man-oso Ndagoso, Gen. Christopher Musa, Rev John Joseph Hayab, and  Engr Andrew Yakubu.

“Others are, Dr Abdulamalik Durunguwa, members of both houses (sic) of the National Assembly and the leadership of both chambers, among others and other stakeholders who played instrumental roles in making this dream a reality.

“Their commitment to ensuring that Southern Kaduna receives its fair share of national development is commendable,” the statement reads.
