The Federal College of Wildlife Management, New Bussa, one of the seven colleges under the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN), on Thursday matriculated 270 students into its various academic programmes.

At the ceremony, 182 students were admitted into the National Diploma (ND) programme, while 98 were admitted into the Higher National Diploma (HND) programme.

Speaking at the event, the Provost of the college, S. K. Halidu, urged the newly admitted students to remain vigilant and security-conscious throughout their stay on campus.

He also advised them to maintain modesty in both conduct and dressing, noting that such behaviour reflects the core values of the institution.

Halidu said the college remained committed to training sub-technical and technical manpower through its accredited programmes, including Wildlife and Ecotourism Management, Animal Health and Production Technology, and Computer Science.

According to him, the programmes are structured to equip students with practical skills, promote self-reliance and prepare them for life after graduation.

The provost stressed that the institution maintains zero tolerance for misconduct, cultism and examination malpractice, urging the students to make good use of the opportunity provided to them.

In a guest lecture delivered at the ceremony, the Conservator of Kainji Lake National Park, Saleh Musa, encouraged the students to embrace discipline and dedication in their academic pursuits, noting that the wildlife management sector offers several career opportunities.

Also speaking, Bello Salihu, who represented the Borgu Emirate, urged the students to remain focused on their academic goals.

The event featured the formal induction of the new students, who expressed excitement and pride at becoming members of the institution’s academic community.
