FCTA flags off training of 1,950 staff in ICT

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has flagged off the training of over 1,950 of its staff in Information Communication Technology (ICT) for effective service delivery.

Speaking while flagging off the training in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary of the FCTA, Mr Olusade Adesola said: “the programme is in line with the commitment of the leadership of the FCT Administration to constantly enhance its staff competencies and productivity.”

He explained that the exercise further underscored the importance the FCT Administration placed on the need for training and retraining of its workforce.

According to the Permanent Secretary, the FCT Administration is poised to ensure that every staff of the Administration becomes proficient in the use of ICT devices as well as empowered adequately to manage administrative processes and functions digitally.

He further said that undoubtedly, Information Communication Technology (ICT) has become the fastest, latest, most important, and widely used innovative tool and skill in the 21st century and will remain the central, most penetrating, and directional influence even in the centuries ahead.

He also remarked that the world has become a global village, made possible by the extensive intrusion of ICT. Stressing that so many tasks and problems are accomplished and solved now more than ever before, as individuals and corporate organizations have resorted to leveraging on the power and operations of digitalised devices and operating systems.

According to a statement by Tony Odey, Adesola urged all staff of the FCTA to embrace technology as the Administration is constantly modernising its daily routine duties and operations as it regularly engages and interfaces with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

In his welcome address, the Director in the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Udo Samuel Atang charged participants to take the exercise seriously, as the Administration will assess their performance at the end of the training.

He went on to explain that the training programme has been carefully structured into twelve streams with 163 participants per batch, every week, dovetailing into 12 weeks, with participants drawn from all the Secretariats, Department, and Agencies (SDAs) of the FCTA.
