Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged residents of the territory to reject the incumbent senator representing the FCT, Ireti Kingibe, while calling on them to vote for former Senator Philip Aduda in the 2027 National Assembly elections.
Wike made the call on Thursday in Abuja during an inspection of the ongoing construction of the 5-kilometre Zaudna-Kaba-Kagini Road.
The minister, who campaigned for Aduda, who lost the FCT Senate seat to Kingibe in 2023, described him as a “man of the people” with the experience needed to represent the interests of FCT residents.
Wike urged residents to reject Kingibe, claiming that she was rarely seen in their communities.
He asked residents whether Kingibe had visited their communities, to which they reportedly responded in the negative.
“You see, Ireti only knows how to talk on television. You should not vote for her and don’t listen to her again.
“If she’s serious, tell her to come solve your problems. One of the problems is this road. Is it not? And Tinubu is already solving it,” he said.
Speaking with residents of Zaudna community during the inspection, Wike also urged them to support President Bola Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
The minister said campaigns for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections had effectively begun, adding that Tinubu’s performance would be a major factor in the election.
Wike recalled that the road project was initiated following appeals from residents of affected communities during the inauguration of the Old Keffi Road from Dei Dei to Kado Fish Market.
He assured the residents that the road would be completed before the end of December to enable them to celebrate Christmas with the completed project.
“I informed President Tinubu that I am coming here, and he sent his greetings, with assurance that the road will be completed before the end of December so you could enjoy Christmas with the finished road.
“Streetlights will be installed as part of the project to strengthen businesses in affected communities. Therefore, you should continue to support the contractor so he can deliver the project as scheduled,” he said.
Earlier, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Dauda, said the road connects Zaudna with Kaba-Kagini communities and terminates at Kubwa Road.
