A group of Niger Delta Youth leaders, on Wednesday, protested at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) Towers in Abuja demanding the sack of the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Engineer Bayo Ojulari, over alleged corruption and mismanagement.
The Niger Delta youths equally called for the appointment of an indigene of the region as the new head of the national oil company.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the Niger Delta youths, who arrived at the NNPC Headquarters located at the Central Business District of the nation’s capital early in the morning and carrying banners with different inscriptions chanted solidarity songs disrupting vehicular movement just as security agents, including men of the Nigeria Police Force, were seen appealing to the agitated youths to be orderly and maintain peace.
The security operatives were also seen diverting traffic to other lanes along the ever-busy Herbert Macaulay Way to allow motorists caught up in the traffic to have passage of ways while workers of the NNPC parked their cars away from the gates of the Company due to the protest.
A representative of the Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, later appealed to the protesting youths who later vacated the road to allow free flow of traffic which was at a standstill in the course of the protest.
