The Health Services and Environment Secretariat (HSES) in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mobihealth International to strengthen and bring affordable healthcare closer to the people.
The partners stated that the collaboration is aimed at digitising healthcare delivery in Abuja while also addressing the ‘japa’ syndrome among Nigerian doctors and other health workers who leave the country for greener pastures.
The Mandate Secretary of HSES, Dr Adedolapo Fawase, said that the partnership sealed the beginning of a mutual working relationship that started a year ago, dedicated to the betterment of the people.
Dr Fawase noted that the HSES-Mobihealth collaboration reflects the vision of the Renewed Hope of President Bola Tinubu’s interventions in healthcare delivery, which ensures accessible, affordable, and quality medical services for residents, especially at the grassroots.
According to Dr Fawase, telemedicine will enhance doctor–patient relationships, uphold confidentiality, and reduce the risks of patronising quacks while also helping to prevent avoidable deaths.
The Mandate Secretary commended the resilience and commitment of Mobihealth in aligning with the Secretariat’s mission to deliver efficient, reliable, and people-centred healthcare.
In her remarks, Dr Funmi Adewara, Founder of Mobihealth, expressed appreciation to the Mandate Secretary, the Permanent Secretary, and the entire management team of HSES for embracing digital health innovations and investing in the future of an evolving medical world.
Dr Adewara assured that Mobihealth will bring relief to patients, sustain the momentum, and ensure residents enjoy quality healthcare in the comfort of their homes.
The MoU was signed by Dr Ruqayya Wamakko, Executive Secretary of the FCT Primary Health Care Board, alongside Dr Ronke Akande on behalf of the government, while Dr Funmi Adewara signed for Mobihealth.
