FCAH&PT supports women group, youth with expertise in fish production

FEDERAL Republic of Nigeria through the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, (FCAH&PT), Ibadan, has empowered youth and women group with expertise in fish production.

The training, sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, was put together by FCAH&PT in collaboration with Stirks International Limited and held at at John Oluakinmoyewa Complex, Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, between August 11 and 15, 2025. 

Speaking with journalists during the opening ceremony of the training programme, Provost, FCAH&PT, Dr Adekoya Owosibo, said the goal of the training is to reduce unemployment among the youth and women in South-West Nigeria, train them on management practices, processing in fish farming, give them the cost implication of setting up fish farming, train the participants on market strategy for better profit and empower them with fish starter pack such as juvenile fish, feeds, funds among others.

Owosibo, stated further that the training, is also meant to augment the source of income of the participants and improve the standard of living of youths and women in South-West Nigeria so that they can be useful to their immediate communities and the country at large.

The training coordinator, Professor Adeboye Omole, while addressing the participants during one of the training sessions, called on themparticularly the youth to ensure that they make judicious use of the knowledge acquired during the training programme so that it can be beneficial to them and other Nigerians.

Some of the participants who spoke in separate interviews, expressed profound gratitude to the Federal Government and the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, (FCAH&PT), for the opportunity, while pledging that the Federal Government and FCAH&PT will get positive feedback from them.
