As a measure to mitigate the incessant farmer-herder clashes in Darazo Local Government Area (LGA), the Bauchi State Police Command has announced a targeted initiative to manage the presence of foreign herders in the area, in order to promote community harmony and stability.
This declaration was made by the State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, during an operational visit to the area on October 1, 2025, as part of efforts to promote peace and enhance security within the state.
The visit marked a significant step toward addressing the ongoing conflicts between farmers and herders in the region.
The event was attended by the Executive Chairperson of the Darazo Local Government Council, community leaders, representatives of both farming and herding communities, as well as other key stakeholders.
The Commissioner encouraged community members to take an active role in supporting security initiatives by sharing relevant information with the police and adhering to the rule of law. He emphasized that such cooperation is essential to fostering a safer environment for all.
While reaffirming the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and order, he warned against both farmers and herders taking the law into their own hands.
