It’s a moment of relief and celebration for the family of Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, as his elder brother and longtime music executive, Jude Okoye, regained freedom after spending over two months in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Jude, who managed the defunct P-Square duo and played a pivotal role in shaping the Nigerian music industry in the 2000s, was released on Wednesday evening after weeks of legal back-and-forth that reportedly delayed his bail. His detention had sparked heated reactions on social media, with fans and industry insiders expressing concern over what some described as a prolonged and politically charged process.

The genesis of the crisis dates back to early February 2025, when Jude Okoye was among several high-profile entertainment figures invited for questioning by the EFCC over allegations of financial mismanagement and suspected money laundering tied to artist endorsements and brand partnership deals.

Taking to his Instagram story shortly after the release, Paul Okoye shared videos capturing the emotional moment Jude stepped out of EFCC custody, as well as a heartfelt reunion with his wife.

The joy and relief on their faces painted a picture of triumph after weeks of uncertainty.

In his caption, Paul didn’t hold back. While celebrating Jude’s freedom, he appeared to take a swipe at his estranged twin brother, Peter Okoye, alluding to behind-the-scenes efforts to stall Jude’s bail.

“Jude is finally out after 2 months plus,” he wrote. “All their efforts to frustrate his bail have finally collapsed. Welcome home brother. And happy birthday.”

The timing of the release added symbolic weight to the celebration, as it coincided with Jude’s birthday. Supporters flooded social media with messages of solidarity and congratulatory notes, hailing his return as a vindication of his integrity and resilience.
