The family of late Nollywood actor, Alexx Ekubo, has announced the funeral arrangements for their beloved, setting June 18, 2026, as the date for his burial in Arochukwu, Abia State.

Ekubo, who died two weeks ago at 40 after a battle with cancer, will be laid to rest at 7 Ekubo-Okwaraeke Avenue, Aziukwukwa, Ujari Village, Arochukwu — the same day his funeral service holds at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village, in the same town.

Before then, a Service of Songs will hold on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at The Monarch Event Center, Lekki, Lagos, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Attendees are to dress in white.

A Wake Keep is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the family compound in Arochukwu.

In the official announcement signed by Mazi Alex Oji Ekubo Okwaraeke for the family, the Ekubo-Okwaraeke family described his passing as deeply painful but acknowledged the support of well-wishers.

“The overwhelming outpouring of love, prayers, messages, visits, calls, support, and strength shown to the family during this painful period has been truly humbling. Words cannot fully express our gratitude. Alexx was deeply loved, and your kindness continues to remind us that his light, compassion, faith, and impact on so many lives will never be forgotten,” the statement read.

The family also reflected on the kind of man Ekubo was in life.

“Though his passing came far too soon, Alexx lived a life marked by love, warmth, generosity, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to God and the people he cherished. His presence filled rooms, lifted hearts, and created memories that will remain with us forever,” the statement added.

The family extended an open invitation to fans, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers to attend the ceremonies.

A reception will follow immediately after the interment at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu.
