Nigerian Tribune learned that the unfortunate incident occurred at about 3:30 am on Sunday when the entire house where a family of six reside at Madaki Street was gutted by the fire believed to have been caused by power surged.
A source close to the scene of the incident disclosed that the entire family was fast asleep when some of the electrical appliances in the sitting room were engulfed by the fire with a thick smoke adding that before they could realise what was happening, the house was already in flame.
He further disclosed that a father Mallam Adamu Yusuf and his wife Maryam along with three of their children were trapped in the inferno and could not be rescued by the Samaritans who thronged the scene to give helping hand adding that the five of them died in the inferno before they could access the building.
It was gathered that the only surviving daughter of the family escaped because she slept at her grandmother place few meters away from the scene of the incident.
Father of the deceased, Mallam Yusuf Lantaki expressed sadness over the unfortunate development that now left him with only one granddaughter, Amina and declared thus: “ As a Muslim, I know that they have all gone to where we shall all go to sooner or later.“
Community leader, Alhaji Danjami Garba also expressed great pains over what he described as “a painful loss and charged people to be more careful and vigilant, especially during the period of and also ensure that they switch all electrical appliances before they go bed or when going out.
