Former member of the House of Representatives for Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency, Hon. Danjuma Shiddi Usman (Danji SS), has announced his membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Shiddi, who made the announcement in a press statement on Saturday, called on his supporters, sympathisers, and all lovers of good governance to rally behind the movement.
The Nigerian Tribune reports that the former lawmaker had earlier, in August 2025, resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing loss of confidence in the party’s internal democracy and deviation from its founding ideals. He insisted that his decision was the product of deep reflection.

The Tribune also reports that Shiddi, who represented the constituency in the 8th and 9th National Assembly, was initially recognised by the APC as its senatorial candidate. However, his nomination was challenged in court by Senator David Jimkuta, a rival aspirant, who alleged irregularities in the party’s primary election. The matter dragged on to the Supreme Court, which eventually ruled in favour of Jimkuta.
Meanwhile, in outlining his next political move, the former lawmaker expressed gratitude for the love and solidarity he had received since stepping away from the ruling APC.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude for the love and solidarity you have shown since the day I stepped away from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Your overwhelming support is proof of the strength of our shared vision—that this movement is genuine, resolute, and committed to rescuing the people of Taraba from the grip of bad governance.
“After careful consideration, due diligence, and wide consultations, I am pleased to announce that we will be charting a new course under the banner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This will serve as our platform as we actively engage in the democratic process leading into the 2026/2027 elections.
“I therefore call on all my supporters, sympathisers, and every lover of good governance to rally behind this movement. Let us join hands to liberate the downtrodden, lift our people out of poverty, and bring succour to communities in need by standing firmly with the ADC in every way,” Danji announced.
