Ex-Ohanaeze Ndigbo Scribe, Chief Nduka Eya, driver kidnapped

FORMER Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nduka Eya, and his diver have been kidnapped. Eya and his driver were whisked away on Thursday night from Enugu residence of the retired politician at Independence Layout by unknown gunmen.

It was learnt that the daredevils pegged his ransom at N15 million to effect the release of the elder-statesman and his driver.

Chief Eya was a Commissioner for Education in the old Anambra State and a one time Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ondo State.

Confirming the story, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amarizu, said, “We are on the issue and has reactivated measures aimed at addressing the challenge and to ensure they are not harmed as well as arresting the culprits.”

“The Enugu state command of the Nigeria Police Force has maintained that the command is working round the clock in partnership with sister security Agencies and relevant stake holders for the rescue and arrest of suspects involved in the alleged abduction of one Nduka Eya with his Driver on 3/8/17 in the evening at Independence Layout axis of the state by yet to be identified gun men and over a yet to be established reason/reasons,” he concluded.
