Ex-minister, Moro, picks Benue South senatorial ticket

THE erstwhile  Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, has picked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the senatorial ticket for the Benue South Senatorial District.

Moro defeated two others to win the the primary election.

The erstwhile South senatorial primary had suffered postponement since last Tuesday when the delegates list were alleged to have been tampered with.

At the primary on which later held in Makurdi  on Thursday, the primary was  declared inconclusive due to the suspension of delegates from the three of the nine local government areas of the senatorial district.

Delegates from three  local government of the senatorial district  Otukpo, Okpokwu and Ohimini  were suspended.

At the supplementary primary election  held  on Sunday night at the Lawn Tennis Court of the Aper Aku Stadium, Moro defeated two other contestants to pick the senatorial ticket.

The former minister polled 461 votes to defeat Joseph Ojobo and Chief Mike Okibe Onoja who polled 365 and 165 votes respectively.

In the same vein, the deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Egli Johnson Ahubi who is a cousin of Senator David Mark polled 133 votes to  defeat the serving House of Representatives member, Ezekiel Adaji and Mark’s daughter, Blessing Onuh who polled 77 and nil votes respectively to  pick the House of Representative ticket for Otukpo/Ohimini constituency.

Also Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State on Media, Francis Ottah Agbo, beat another incumbent, Hon Hassan Saleh for the Okpokwu/Ado/Ogbadibo Federal constituency by 205 to 106 votes.

Speaking with newsmen after his emergence, the visibly elated Moro described his victory as a hard fought one noting those who contested against him, had the pedigree to fly the party’s flag for the seat.

The former Minister who posited that he is properly positioned to represent the zone at the senate come 2019 promised that his representative posture for the zone will not be in vain.
