A former secretary of the Moro local government area of Kwara state, Hon. Abdullahi AbdulRauph AbdulSalam, has resigned his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state.
In a letter, dated March 20, 2025, written to the Moro LG chairman of the APC, titled, NOTICE OF RESIGNATION AS A MEMBER OF ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC), Hon. Abdulsalam said that his resignation was due to alleged “endless conflicts, crises and lack of unity within the party at all levels in Kwara state”.
Providing other reasons for his departure from the ruling APC, Hon. Abdulsalam said: “This is largely a result of inadequate leadership capacity to manage crises and resolve conflicts. Furthermore, the lack of unity and peaceful coexistence among party leaders at the state level has hindered progress.
“The recent APC crisis in Moro LGA, which resulted in chaos and physical attacks on innocent party members, has made it clear that it’s time for me to move on. I have decided to align myself with like-minded individuals who prioritize peace and progress, with the goal of restoring Kwara state’s lost glory”.
Hon. Abdulsalam, who was a former youth empowerment coordinator in the local government and former board member of Kwara Express (government transportation company), said that he defected to the APC in March 2023 due to certain circumstances.
The decampee, who is currently the national secretary, Ilorin Emirate for Unity and Development Initiative ( IEUDI), said that he was grateful to the leadership of the APC for the experience and knowledge gained during his time with the APC.
“I pray that the party leadership will acquire the wisdom needed to resolve the ongoing crises affecting
the state’s peace”, he said.
