Professor-Banji-Akintoye

A former senator and head of the Assembly of All Yoruba Groups Worldwide, professor Banji Akintoye has called for immediate stoppage of what he described as ethnic cleansing of “other Nigerian ethnic nations,” by a particular section of the country.

At the 50th anniversary of the end of the Nigerian civil war, Akintoye as the Co-Chairman said, ” the Nigerian ethnic nation that has been threatening other Nigerian ethnic nations, that has been engaging in invasion, destruction, destruction, disruption and barbarous rampages in the homelands of other Nigerian ethnic nations and that has been mobilizing external forces to assist the conquest, must now, immediately stop.”

He said the stoppage of this agenda must be to the satisfaction of all of Nigeria, and to the satisfaction of the civilized world.

According to him, there are reasons to fear that the character of the affairs of Nigeria these days, and prevailing mood among Nigerians are ” chillingly similar to the character of the affairs of our country in the months leading to our Civil War.”

The event was organized by a socio-cultural group, Ndigbo Lagos in conjunction with civil society organizations.
