Last week, the Commissioner of Police, Muhammed visited the paramount ruler of Amechi-Uwani -Awkunanaw, the Ohachiri Eze II, Igwe Joe Ogbodo, where he had talks with the paramount ruler and high profile indigenes of the area on issues of mutual benefits.
Amechi-Uwani-Awkunanaw, a community in Enugu-South Local Government Area of Enugu State is the country home of Senator Jim Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo, one time governor of old Anambra State and it regularly has communal land crisis.
Among the top dignitaries who received the State Police Commissioner at the Igwe’s palace were the former Senate President, Chief Ken Nnamani, Enugu-South Local Government boss and cabinet members of the ruler.
Welcoming Police Commissioner Muhammed in his palace, Igwe Ogbodo, lauded the police boss for ensuring that there was peace and security in communities of the state.
According to the Monarch, “we are watching closely from our various communities and no doubt the Commissioner of Police is a man of peace. Little wonder he has achieved this far”
The royal father said he would continue to partner the police authority towards wiping out crime in his domain, urging the police to keep the tempo high.
Also speaking, the former senate president, Nnamani extolled the policing approach of Danmallam in the state and urged everybody to support him in the crusade against crime in the society.
Responding, Police Commissioner Mohammed, thanked the traditional ruler and his people for their support and for also having confidence in him, noting that traditional institution is an important organ which police cannot do toy with.
“Without the traditional institution, the actualization of maintaing communal peace and security in the state by the police will be difficult. I will stop at nothing at maintaining the existing and cordial relationship between the traditional stool and the command for effective partnership”, he added.
The high point of the visit was presentation of souvenir by the Commissioner of Police to the Monarch as a mark of appreciation and acceptance.
