THE Police in Enugu on Saturday rescued the former Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nduka Eya, from the hands of his abductors.
In a press statement issued by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amarizu on Saturday which was made available to Sunday Tribune in Enugu said that the Septuagenarian was freed through intelligence information and coordinated operation conducted by the security operatives in the early hours of Saturday.
Amarizu said that Chief Eya who was kidnapped in his Enugu residence on Thursday at Ezillo street independence layout Enugu was rescued unhurt by the security operatives following an operation carried out by his men in a forest along Enugu/Abakiliki Expressway in which one suspect identified as one Chibudu Amadi was arrested.
According to Amarizu, items recovered from the suspect was a locally made gun, adding that he is helping the police in their investigations.
The State Police Image maker said that Chief Eya has reunited with his family while manhunt on other suspects are being intensified.
