#EndBadGovernance: Shun any violent protest, Kano Gov warns minors

Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has warned the released minors to shun any form of violent protest and be a preacher of peace in the society.

This was just as some of the parents who spoke commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Yusuf, human rights activist and others for the roles played to ensure the release and return of their children.

However, Governor Yusuf handed the warning to the minors on Tuesday before accompanying them to their various wards at the Muhammadu Buhari Specialist hospital in Kano.

Governor Yusuf who categorically spoke in Hausa to convey his message to the minors, appealed to them to turn a new leaf by shunning any form of protest and preach against any attempt by anybody to organize protest to disrupt peace enjoyed by the society.

He said, “Do not engage in any form of violent protest. Wherever you see youths want to stage protest, preach against protest to them as you have become those to preach to others.

“This should serve as a lesson to you and you are to preach against it to others.”

He said the State’s Commissioner of Education will engage with them on their educational status and those who are out of school will be return to school while those engaged in businesses will be given financial support as start up or continue with their businesses.

He however added that the children will be kept in the hospital for four to five days for thorough medical check by team of professional doctors to ensure they are mentally and physically stable before reuniting them with their families and reintegrating them into the society.

The Governor however, urged them to accord the team of doctors maximum support during the medical treatment.

Governor Yusuf then commended President Bola Tinubu for listening to the public outcry over the stringent bail condition and charges leveled against the teenagers which informed the President’s decision to pardon them.
