The training is being conducted in collaboration with the Future Assured Initiative, the pet project of the wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari.
Speaking at opening ceremony, the NDE Director General, Dr Nasiru Muhammad-Ladan said the training was aimed at empowering women who are the most vulnerable in the society.
The DG who, was, represented by the Head of Department, Women Employment, Mrs Aisha Ibrahim said the initiative would give the participants the opportunity to become not only self-reliant but employers of labour.
He charged the participants to make the best use of the rare opportunity to enhance their socio-economic status in the society.
The NDE state Coordinator, Alhaji Iliyasu Ahmed said the participants were selected from the 44 Local Government Areas of the state.
He commended the wife of the President for initiating the programme, saying it would enhance the living standard of the participants after the training.
He reminded the participants that gone are the days when wives should depend solely on their husbands to provide all their needs.
“The era of women waiting for husbands to provide all their needs is not only over but an old fashion,” he said.
In her remarks, the Special Adviser to Gov Abdullahi Ganduje on Youths, Hajiya Suraiyya Aminu said the training was in line with the administration’s commitment to support women and youths.
She said the state government had introduced a number of programmes through which women were empowered in the last two years.
Aminu advised the participants to pay special attention to what they would learn so as to train others in their respective communities.
NAN reports that the participants are expected to learn event management, beads stringing, bag and shoe making and cosmetics within 10 days.
