Following last night’s declaration of State of Emergency in Rivers State by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian military has swiftly moved in with armored vehicles to take over the state’s Government House.
However, the whereabouts of Governor Siminalayi Fubara could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
Shortly after the announcement, military and other trucks were seen moving into the government house with people around the area scurrying home to avoid being caught in any unpleasant situation.

The military trucks numbering about 10 were observed patrolling all adjourning roads leading to the Government House with some armoured vehicles positioned at strategic points.
The usually busy areas soon became deserted as residents made efforts to get back to their respective houses.
A government house source confided to our correspondent that Governor Fubara was last seen at the Government House about 5pm after presiding over an emergency State Executive Council meeting.
The source who pleaded anonymity said military trucks were later seen patrolling the area.
It could not be immediately confirmed whether Governor Fubara has vacated the government house or the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Anas has moved in.
