OVER 1,000 members of various political parties – African Democratic Congress (ADC), Action Democratic Party (ADP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) in Itesiwaju Local Government areas of Oyo state at the weekend defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking with Nigerian Tribune, former deputy chief whip in the seventh senate, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola, who received the defected members across the local government said the movement was as a result of the party’s recent tour of 10 local government areas in Oke-Ogun area of the state.

Itesiwaju local government comprises of Ipapo, Okaka, Oke-Amu, Otu, Igbojaiye, Komu and BabaOde.

Senator Agboola said the new members, though had been discussing with the part leadership of the party, saying the party’s recent campaign of the zone further availed the new members the prospects PDP portends in Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

Agboola said, “I can tell you authoritatively that over 1,000 grassroots politicians from various wards and towns in Itesiwaju local government in Oyo state have joined our party, PDP.

“These are known politicians with track record of success in the game and electoral success in the local government. These are parts of the effects of our tour of 10 local governments in Oke-Ogun recently.

“Though we have been talking to them for sometime, but they had the opportunity of listening and now seeing for themselves our candidates, especially the presidential and gubernatorial candidates, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Engineer Seyi Makinde.

“Makinde is the only candidate in this year’s governorship election that tour all the nooks and crannies in all the local government in Oke-Ogun.

“We have had the opportunity to present our manifesto to the people through our campaign by our gubernatorial candidate. I am sure they can attest to the fact that that is best among what they have ever being told in recent times.

“I am also using this opportunity to appeal to our other brothers in others who are still contemplating on when to join the PDP to do so now. As from Saturday, the victory song will begin to play and I urge other politicians across the 33 local government to join the winning team.”
