Election: Melaye promises new dawn, says APC impoverises Kogi people

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the forthcoming November 11 election, Senator Dino Melaye, has promised a new Kogi where accountability, probity and good governance will be the order of the day if he is elected governor during the election.

Melaye made the remarks during the presentation of document by a 21-man Policy Drafting Committee for Kogi State Governorship Election headed by Sam Amdi, a Professor of Policy Analysis and Development which was held at the party’s national headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

According to Melaye, Kogi in the last seven years under the All Progressive Congress (APC) has witnessed bad governance which has affected the lives of Kogites and impoverished many households.

He commended the committee for coming up with such a laudable document with the promise to implement it if voted as governor during the November elections.

“What we are doing here is to announce to Kogites, to announce to Nigerians, that the incoming government of Kogi State by the grace of God will do things differently. No party is talking about a policy document apart from the PDP. The report is not only robust but it is a solution book. It is a new dawn, new order, new day for Kogi State.

“Kogi is the only state today where a serving permanent secretary is taking okada to the office. Today in the history of our state, we have the largest number of missing persons in Nigeria. Those we did not see their dead bodies including the PDP chairman of Okene Local Government for four years we are still looking for him.

“You cannot imagine the number of missing persons not to talk of those who were murdered in broad daylight. Just two months ago, 27 people were killed in one day in broad daylight. I’m giving us the background for us to know that we have a lot of work to do. All our hospitals are now mere consulting clinics. There are no roads in any part of the state,” Melaye said.
