In a bid to boost agricultural productivity and improve the livelihoods of farmers in his district, the lawmaker representing Ekiti North Senatorial district, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, has distributed farm implements and cash to over 400 farmers.

The programme, which was held in Ido Ekiti, headquarters of Ido/Osi Local Government Area of the state was attended by prominent stakeholders, including council chairmen, serving and former elected officials, and women groups.

Each of the over 400 beneficiaries received a carton of herbicides, bags of fertilizers, a sprayer and N30,000 as transport fare.

Speaking, Senator Fasuyi stated that he was committed to providing more support to farmers in the district to boost agricultural productivity, urging the beneficiaries to make good use of the inputs.

He said his support to farmers would be sustained so that they would be committed to ensuring food sufficiency in the district and the state at large in line with the shared prosperity agenda of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

The Ido-Ekiti-born lawmaker announced to the gathering that plans were underway to train 40 graduates in ICT which would cost over N200 million, and to further facilitate federal employment for those seeking gainful employment in the district.

Other initiatives announced by Senator Fasuyi include, ” the provision of more boreholes to communities, renovation of schools, installation of solar lights, and distribution of educational materials to students.”

The senator’s gesture was widely appreciated by the beneficiaries, who expressed gratitude for his constant support and pledged their unalloyed support to him.

They explained that the lawmaker had set a record that would be difficult to beat and that the event was a testament to the senator’s commitment to the development of his constituency and his desire to improve the lives of his people.

Some of the speakers at the event, Mr. Adeyanju, Chief Kemi Olaleye, Mrs. Felicia Ibiloye, Femi Adeyeye, and Tunde Aladegbami, eulogized Senator Fasuyi’s virtues, describing him as the best Senator from Ekiti North Senatorial district so far.

They highlighted his numerous achievements to include the provision of boreholes for many communities, facilitating the employment of 40 youths into the Federal Civil Service, rendering assistance to the older people and widows, giving periodic support to farmers and sponsoring the training of some women in Adire making.
