The chairman of the Ekiti state congress committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Afolabi Adekambi, has commended the party’s members and leaders for the successful conduct of the ward congress across the state’s 177 wards.
The National Organizing Secretary, Hon Umar Bature had announced dates for the congresses with the Local Government Congress scheduled for March 29, 2025 and the State Congress to elect members of the State Working Committee will come up by April 12, 2025.

The chairman who spoke with newsmen at the PDP state secretariat in Ado Ekiti, the state capital said that the peaceful conduct of the congress signified that the future of PDP in Ekiti state is very bright and promising.
He applauded the leaders of the party for their discipline and maturity in handling the affairs of the party especially the way the congress was done without rancor.
According to him, the outcome of the exercise is a testament to the commitment of the leaders and stakeholders to the unity of the party towards defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2026 governorship election.
The chairman noted that the state PDP has set a very good example for others across Nigeria, saying that, ” what happened in Ekiti state is a threat to the ruling party as it’s now clear that PDP is more organised than any other party in Nigeria.”
He, however, urged all members of the party in the state to maintain the same tempo in the subsequent congresses, adding that, ” it’s not over until it’s over. “
Adekanmbi who appealed to members to consider the interest of the party above other interests, said outcomes of the forthcoming local government and state congresses should be accepted in the overall interest of the PDP in the state.
On his part, the chairman of the caretaker committee in the state, Chief Dare Adeleke, commended the chairman and members of the congress committee and party members for the success of the exercise in the state.
Adeleke urged the newly elected part executives across the 177 wards to be magnanimous in victory by bringing every tendency together for peaceful coexistence.
He revealed that maintaining a strong and unified party at the ward level would serve as a foundation to building a formidable PDP to win next year’s governorship poll in Ekiti state.
