Ahead of the governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, scheduled for October 27, 2025, the party leadership has commenced a revalidation exercise for its members across the state.
The chairman of the national committee leading the revalidation exercise from the APC National Secretariat, Jarret Tenebe, who spoke with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, on Wednesday alongside other committee members, said the exercise, which began on Tuesday, is taking place across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.
Tenebe, who is also the APC chairman in Edo State, noted that the exercise is crucial for updating the party’s membership register, which he said would be instrumental to the success of the party’s governorship primaries ahead of the 2026 election.

He added that the revalidation exercise aligns with the party’s constitution, which mandates that only financially up-to-date members are eligible to vote and be voted for.
The chairman appealed to party members in the state to take advantage of the exercise to confirm their membership status in order to participate in the forthcoming governorship primaries.
The Edo APC chairman said, “Our assignment is in furtherance of our party’s constitutional requirement, as stated in Article 9.3(1), which compels members to be financially up-to-date to be eligible to vote or be voted for.
“Therefore, as our party prepares to commence the Ekiti State gubernatorial primary election, this revalidation of the membership register is a significant part of the process to ensure that all financial members are appropriately captured and aggregated in the register, so they can vote and be voted for.
“This is a call to all members who have paid their membership dues of ₦200 per month over the past 12 months to visit their respective wards to confirm their financial standing.
“APC is a party that is open and transparent. We believe in and practise internal democracy. That is the essence of this committee’s assignment from the National Headquarters in Abuja — to implement this revalidation exercise effectively.”
He added, “This revalidation will also help strengthen our membership database. The data being gathered now will contribute significantly to the broader registration process and will reflect our growth as a party.
“It is clear that APC remains at the forefront of political development in Nigeria — from internal democracy to membership mobilisation. I am confident that other political parties cannot match what we are doing. As the primaries approach, we will begin to see cracks emerge in other parties.”
Tenebe also stated that the bold reforms and programmes introduced by President Bola Tinubu have resulted in an influx of new members into the APC nationwide.
Highlighting the positive impact of President Tinubu’s administration on the national economy, Tenebe expressed confidence that more members, including leaders of opposition parties, would continue to join the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
