Ekiti community commends Oyebanji for upholding fairness in boundary dispute

The people of Ejiyan-Ekiti, Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State have commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his efforts at maintaining fairness and justice over the land ownership tussle with Ipoti-Ekiti

An Ekiti State High Court, sitting in Ado-Ekiti, had on Thursday, last week dismissed a suit instituted by Ipoti-Ekiti against the Obalaaye,Oba Adekunle Adepoju and Ejiyan-Ekiti.

The suit instituted in 2024 was to prevent the Ekiti State Boundary Commission from looking into the lingering boundary issues affecting the two communities.

In a letter signed by the Chairman of the Obalaaye-in-Council and Sajuku of Ejiyan-Ekiti, Chief Babatunde Awe, the council lauded Governor Oyebanji for his commitment to fairness and development of communities across the state.

They also commended the traditional ruler for his dedication to all facets of development in Ejiyan-Ekiti, including all efforts to protect the community’s heritage.

The letter reads, “We appreciate the commitment of our Kabiyesi in all efforts to protect our territorial identity as handed unto us by our fore-fathers.

” The dismissal of the case brought against us as a community is a clear testimony that we are fighting a just cause and are not ungrateful to our Kabiyesi for his commitment and steadfastness in the face of consistent provocation and harassments.

“In like manner too, we appreciate Governor Biodun Oyebanji administration. The administration is anchored on a very strong pillar of fairness and justice and as a community, we can attest to this and we want to say we are grateful not only to His Excellency, but all sincere minds who have worked in all honesty to bring about the outcome we had yesterday.”

It would be recalled that Ejiyan-Ekiti, a nascent community in Ijero Local Government was granted autonomous status in 2012, having started agitation to leave Ipoti-Ekiti Confederacy since 1936.
