The South-West Agenda for Asiwaju Tinubu (SWAGA), Ekiti State Chapter, has dismissed reports alleging that the presidency has endorsed the Chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Senator Dayo Adeyeye, for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The SWAGA State Coordinator, Hon. Tayo Afele, in a statement, described the reports as unfounded and misleading, noting that they are “deliberate attempts to create division within the party and provoke unnecessary political unrest ahead of the upcoming election.”
According to him, “This is not the first instance of such deceptive tactics being employed to mislead the public and disrupt party cohesion.
“A similar controversy arose in the past when campaign posters for Senator (Prince) Adeyeye’s gubernatorial bid—distributed without his consent during his tenure as a senator—sparked unwarranted discord within the APC.

“Such actions are counterproductive, serving only to distort the party’s internal dynamics and incite baseless speculation and conflict among its members.
“The intent behind these misleading narratives appears to extend beyond mere political conjecture. They seem strategically crafted to divert attention from the current administration’s accomplishments and to fabricate a false sense of rivalry between Senator Adeyeye and Governor Oyebanji.
“By portraying Adeyeye as an opponent of the incumbent leadership, these reports aim to derail governance efforts and erode trust among party loyalists.”
He explained that Adeyeye is a committed progressive and “is celebrated for his steadfast dedication to infrastructural development, progressive governance, and grassroots-oriented policies.”
Afele added, “Known for bridging political and ideological divides to foster unity and progress, he remains a respected leader within the APC and a committed supporter of the current administration.
“His focus on Ekiti’s advancement is evident in his advocacy for inclusive governance, economic growth, and social welfare initiatives.”
SWAGA urged party members and supporters to disregard the politically motivated distractions, saying, “The party remains committed to delivering effective governance and ensuring a transparent and democratic electoral process.”
“As the state approaches the next election cycle, stakeholders are encouraged to prioritize constructive political discourse over divisive rhetoric. Senator Adeyeye continues to support the administration’s developmental agenda and remains dedicated to the collective prosperity of Ekiti. Any contrary narrative is baseless, mischievous, and undeserving of serious consideration,” he concluded.
