A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, has expressed confidence in his chances of securing the PDP gubernatorial ticket ahead of the 2026 election in the state.
He explained that he has consulted widely with critical stakeholders, adding that he is fully prepared to lead the party to victory.
Speaking with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, Fayose stated that his decision to join the race was driven by a strong desire to reposition Ekiti State and restore the people’s trust in governance.
He noted that his focus would be on economic growth, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment, promising leadership that prioritises the needs of the people.
According to him, “This is not just about politics for me; it is about the future of our state. Ekiti deserves a leader who understands the challenges facing the people and is ready to provide real solutions.
“I believe the PDP has a strong chance in this election, but we must present the right candidate to win the trust of the electorate.”
Fayose, a businessman and philanthropist, has remained active in community development over the years. Through his Otunba Emmanuel Ajisafe Fayose Foundation, he has provided scholarships for students, financial support for traders, and skill acquisition programmes for young people. He believes that governance should be about impact, not just promises.
Addressing concerns about internal disagreements within the PDP at the national headquarters, Emmanuel, who is the brother of former state governor Ayodele Fayose, stressed the need for unity ahead of the election.
He called on party members to put their differences aside and focus on the bigger goal of returning the PDP to power in Ekiti.
“Ekiti people have seen enough of unfulfilled promises. They want a government that works for them, one that listens and delivers. The PDP can provide that leadership, but we must first get it right within the party,” he added.
