Ekiti 2018: Group appeals to APC over guber ticket

AS Ekiti state prepares for governorship election in 2018, a group, the Swift Charity Foundation (SCF), has said the state needed a governor that would inspire it with a vision towards a future of peace, progress and Prosperity.

Apart from this, the group also said it was time for the state to have a leader that would frontally combat the prevalence of corruption across various sectors of public life of the state.

The national coordinator, Adeleke Aribasoye and the publicity secretary of SCF, Olakunle Ogunleye, in a statement, however said that is the reason that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state should support the ambition of Hon Bimbo Daramola.

According to the group, the legacies left behind by leaders Luke Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo and Kayode Fayemi, were already being eroded.

The SCF noted that there was the need for a credible state vision that is also meaningful, attractive, inspiring and caring to the ordinary citizens, so that it would become a shared mission.

It said, “No state has a future if its leadership does not have a clear idea how they want their state to be in terms of physical security, social security and technological advancement and of course, the routes to take the state through to achieve these laudable objectives.

“Unfortunately, a good vision without a good leadership will get us nowhere but further down the abyss. Indeed, due to the successive bad leaderships in state, the vision of a corporate, peaceful and stable prosperous Ekiti State of our independent heroes namely Otunba Adebayo Adeniyi and Dr John Kayode Fayemi among others has dimmed.

“As we approach the 2O18 general election, it is becoming clearer that the man who best fits into these leadership qualities is the incorruptible Congressman Bimbo Daramola, we therefore appeal to APC and other governorship aspirants of the party, and may please them, to do Ekiti a favour by giving the party’s ticket to him”

The group further said that to turn to the glorious days, Ekiti needed a leader who will inspire them with a vision towards a future of peace, progress and Prosperity.

“Ekiti also needs a leader to frontally combat the prevalence of corruption, both in low and high places, in our private and public lives. The corruption canker worm has become endemic and psychological, that is, a thing of the mind.

“The leadership people are yearning for in 2O18 must be legitimate, just and of good character. This is because leadership is a value-based vacation or else it becomes dysfunctional as being presently portrayed at all levels of our ongoing democratic process”, added the group.
