Eid-el-Maulud: Emulate Prophet Muhammad’s lifestyle, PDP chieftain urges Muslims

A Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State , Dr Kazeem Adesina Abidikugu has felicitated Muslims on the celebration of this year Eid-el-Maulud, the birth of Prophet Muhammad urging them to emulate the his lifestyle of service to mankind.

Maulud Nabiyy, which marked the birthday of Prophet Muhammad is observed on the 12th day of Rabi’ al-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar, which is a time to honour and remember the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad.

Abidikugu, who is a United Kingdom-based psychiatric consultant in a statement to mark the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday rejoices with Muslim Ummah on the occasion.

He said the best way to celebrate the occasion is to abide by the doctrine of Islam and the lifestyle of Prophet Muhammad, which is service to humanity and mankind.

Abidikugu, who was also an Ibadan South-East and North-East House of Representatives PDP aspirant in the build up to the 2023 general election said the celebrants should be modest in their celebrations because of the economic situation in the country, urging them to use the occasion to pray for the progress of Ibadan, Oyo State and the country at large.

According to the statement: “I wish all Muslims in Ibadan, Oyo State and Nigeria in general, happy and remarkable Maulud Nabiyy celebrations to mark the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammed whose teachings were centered on tolerance, sacrifice, peaceful coexistence, abstinence, honesty and generosity are engraved in our hearts.

“The universal truth of the values the great Prophet stood for remain sacrosanct and unmovable. As we harp on this memorable occasion to reflect on whatever temporary challenges we may be facing, I implore all Muslims to celebrate in peace especially with our neighbours.

“As we celebrate this auspicious moment, may the joyous festivity and showers of Allah’s blessings be with us all. Happy Maulud Nabiyy.”
