Eid-el-Kabir: Niger Police Commissioner assures residents of adequate security 

The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Ogundele J. Ayodeji, has directed Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and DPOs to adopt proactiveness through effective intelligence gathering and raids of blackspots within their areas of responsibility towards ensuring a seamless and peaceful Sallah celebration.

The CP further directs for mobilization of operational assets such as Anti-riot water cannon, gun-trucks, patrol vehicles and adequate deployment of Police personnel for visibility policing, show of force and stop & search operations at all entry and exit of the State for water-tight security arrangements before, during and after the festivity.

This was contained in a statement issued and made available to the newsmen on Monday by the Command’s PRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, adding that the directives by the CP, Ogundele Joshua Ayodeji, will be in addition to sufficient deployment of Police personnel and other tactical teams such as the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Explosive Ordnance Disposal – Chemical Biological Radiological & Nuclear (EOD-CBRN), Tactical Support Team (TST) and Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command to Eid grounds, recreation centers, parks and other strategic public places in the state.

The statement added further that  “Consequently, an operation order has been issued to Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and DPOs of their specific responsibility to provide reliable security coverage at a particular assigned Eid ground, with thorough supervision of men deployed for the festivity in accordance with standard operational guidelines”.

The Command has however warned  members of the public, parents and guardians to ensure a firm grip of their wards, adding that the Police and other security agencies will not tolerate any act of thuggery and youth disorder during and after the festive period. 

It emphasized that anyone found fomenting trouble will be arrested and dealt with accordingly.

Meanwhile, “the Police Boss CP Ogundele Joshua.Ayodeji.has  felicitated with Nigerlites and Muslim Ummah in the State for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, which connotes sacrifice, love, help and tolerance, as he enjoins the followers to abide by its symbolism”.

He thereby wishes all Muslim faithful in the State a joyous and hitch-free celebration.
