Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf has donated cows and food items to inmates in custodial centres in the state to enable them to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr marking the end of the Ramadan fast.
The governor made the donation through the Chairperson of the Kano State Prerogative of Mercy Committee, Hajiya Azumi Namadi Bebeji.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Public Relation Officer of the correctional centre, SC Musbahu Lawan k/Nass a copy made available to press on Tuesday in nano
Bebeji, while making the donation, encouraged the inmates to have a sense of belonging as they are part of the society.
She then assured the inmates of the relentless support and assistance of the state government.
Bebeji called on the inmates to pray for the governor as well as the state government so that they would continue to provide the dividends of democracy to all and sundry.
While responding, the Controller of Corrections Kano state command, Sulaiman M Inuwa appreciated the state government for the huge gesture
He then informed the governor’s envoy that the service is always ready to partner with the government to enhance criminal justice administration in the state.
Inuwa also appreciated the governor for the donations and went further to say that it will motivate the inmates to become productive and law-abiding citizens after discharge.
