In life we need people and people need us. We cannot do without people. People can either make or mar us. To succeed we need to know the kind of people that we need. We cannot execute our life purpose alone . . . we need people.
We need effective teams to succeed in any endeavour we embark on.
“Teamwork is so important that it is virtually impossible for you to reach the heights of your capabilities or make the money that you want without becoming very good at it.” Brain Tracy
We need people who will associate with us to achieve certain results that we desire. Like they say, two heads are better than one.
When we have an effective team we will accomplish more results.
“Two are better than one, because they have a good [more satisfying] reward for their labour.” Ecclesiastes 4:9
“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” Helen Keller
We need to form effective teams that will facilitate the execution of our visions, dreams and purposes.
There are some basic essentials to having an effective team.
The first essential is the leader of the team. The leader of the team formulates and outlines the desired results he wants the team to achieve. Effective means to achieve a desired result. Without a desired result the team cannot be effective. The leader of the team must define the results he wants accomplished, the destination he wants the team to arrive at and the goals he wants the team to execute.
Once the leader outlines what he wants accomplished he now needs to recruit a team. There can be no team without people. A team is a number of people associated in some joint action.
“Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.” Andrew Carnegie
The leader will have to recruit people into the team based on what they can bring to the table to bring the desired goals to be successfully executed. If the leader will be effective he must not just recruit qualified people into his team but also be able to effectively communicate, train, motivate and mobilize them to get the job done.
Thirdly the leader has the duty to coordinate the team. Since the team is composed of people with varying gifts, talents, skills and aptitude there has to, of necessity, be a coordination of their efforts and input.
“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” Henry Ford
