The candidate African Democratic Congress (ADC) senatorial candidate for the August 16, 2025, senatorial bye-election in Edo Central Senatorial District, Mr. Sergius Ogun, has assured that if elected, he would provide quality representation that would translate to economic development of the district.
Ogun, a two-term former member of the Federal House of Representatives, gave the assurance shortly after clinching the senatorial ticket of the ADC at the primary election held in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The Edo Central senatorial seat became vacant following the election of the former senator representing the district, Monday Okpebholo, as the governor of the state on September 22, 2024.
The former House of Representatives member, who was returned unopposed, pledged to build on his achievements in the green chamber and make the entire senatorial district feel the impact of good governance.
This was just as he promised to link the rural communities in the senatorial district with access roads to boost farming and trading, and sponsor bills that would lead to the establishment of Army and Police Barracks in the district to address the menace of kidnapping and other crimes.
Relying on his antecedents of previous scholarship programmes and annual enrolment of WAEC and NECO examinations for students of senatorial district, which he championed while in the lower chamber, Ogun pledged to make sure every child in Esan land was educated to gain vital knowledge, if given the opportunity.
The ADC senatorial candidate said that as a member of the House of Representatives, he executed over 99 projects, worth over N43 billion and sponsored over 60 bills and 60 motions, adding that his love for the ordinary people led him to sponsor a bill to bar political officer holders from seeking medical treatment abroad or sending their children to school abroad.
