Edo 2024: Ighodalo pledges healthcare reform despite legal setback

Published by

Asue Ighodalo, the flag-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming Edo gubernatorial election has vowed to reform healthcare sector in the state if elected.

This commitment comes despite a recent Federal High Court judgment nullifying the primaries that declared him the PDP candidate.

The court ruling voided the primary election held on February 22, 2024, citing the unlawful exclusion of 378 delegates.

Unperturbed about the development, Ighodalo promises to revamp Edo’s healthcare system, focusing on improved access, quality care, and enhanced infrastructure.

“In the course of my ongoing interactions and consultations with various Groups, I met with the Edo State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association and other health workers in Benin City.

“We discussed the issues and challenges in the healthcare sector and I explained how creative financing can be used to provide solutions in infrastructure and general healthcare services.I also shared my plans to not just train more health workers, but to keep them working within our State.

“Healthcare is a very crucial pillar in our Manifesto tagged “Pathway to Prosperity for All”,” he wrote on his X handle on Thursday.
