A leading hospitality management company, the Edge Executive Limited, has expressed its readiness to take charge and transform the popular, DE Rovans Hotel, Ibadan, as it commences operation in June.
The Chief Executive Officer of the company, Akinniran Sikiru, told R at a press briefing that the new management was set to restore the glory of the leading hospitality centre, adding that, “having reached an agreement with the owners of the facility, we have concluded plans to take over the hotel, as well as make it were a new look.
He added that one of the main steps towards restoring the pride of the relaxation centre, is to revert to the original name.
“We are rebranding the entire facility, starting from its name. The brand has a legacy and we are of the opinion that its initial name still remains a unique brand. This is why we are changing the name from Wallan Hotel to DE Rovans Hotel Limited,” he added.
Head, Business Development of the company, Yomi Olawaye, noted that the facility was leased for 20 years by the family of the company and that the Edge Executive Limited was set to hit the ground running to ensure the inn takes its place in the ranking of hospitality centres in the city.
Speaking on the new development, a representative of the owner of the hotel, Ms Edna Bola Aiyegbeni, expressed her delight over the plans of the new management, adding that, “The Edge taking over the management and the liability of the hotel. The entire family and I are very relieved with the new development, because most of the Aiyegbeni’s children are not on ground; we have other project we are doing.
“When professionals take over something it is not just for the betterment of the family, but also for the society, because DE Rovans Hotel is a household name in the city Ibadan and actually contributed to the growth of economy in Oyo State. It is just a bold step to make the hotel come back to life and become the hotel that people used to know, because the strategic location is one of the qualities that make it stand out.
Olawaye said: “The new face of DE Rovans Hotel Limited will be superb and take its rightful position in the industry. We are bringing back entertainment and sports to the fullest. It will be centre for all activities. So, Ibadan and its environs should be on the lookout.
