Ebonyi: Court remands four suspects over banishment of two widows

An Abakaliki Chief Magistrate Court in Ebonyi has remanded four suspects accused of subjecting two widows and a man to jungle justice.

The suspects, identified as Egwuonwu Jonah, Sunday Obasi, Ogonnaya Eze (also known as Boss), and Godwin Nwokoro-Obi, face 10-count charges, including conspiracy, attempted murder, and malicious damage.

According to reports, the alleged offenses occurred on February 21, 2025, in Mebi-Okpa, Okposi, Ohaozara Local Government Area.

The suspects reportedly beat the victims, paraded one of the widows half-naked, forced them to drink contaminated water, and administered a concoction made from a deceased person’s blood and mucous.

The court has adjourned the case to May 9, 2025, for further proceedings, pending compliance by the Office of the State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
