Ebonyi State Governor Rt Hon Francis Nwifuru has urged Christians to use the period of Easter celebration to recommit themselves to loving God with all their hearts.
Governor Nwifuru gave this advice while commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from death over the weekend.
He then urged Christians to utilize the season to pray for peace, social cohesion, progress, and healing in all areas of national life.
In his words, “On this special day of Easter, the Government and people of Ebonyi State join Christians all over the world in celebrating Easter—an event commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from death.
“It marks the end of Lent, a period of sacrifice and contemplation of the wondrous works of God, and it is a day of hope, joy, renewal, and rebirth.

“Easter commemorates Christ’s Resurrection, a constant reminder of God’s love and the promise of redemption for us all.
“As a season of deep contrition and sober reflection, we have considered all those who are suffering from violence, grief, social isolation, illness, poverty, deprivation, and other hardships. As a responsive government, we continue to advocate for approaches to alleviate the suffering of our people as quickly as possible.
“Therefore, I urge you to always remember the sacrifices of our Lord Jesus Christ and recommit yourselves to loving God with all our hearts, embracing His call to treat one another with compassion.
“I urge you to use this period to pray for peace, social cohesion, progress, and healing in all areas of our national life.
Happy Easter, and may God bless and keep you all.”
