As Christians across the world mark the 2025 Easter celebration, Nigeria’s Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former Governor of Osun State, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola (CON), and the Olukere of Ikere-Ekiti, Oba Ayodele Obasoyin, have extended warm felicitations to the Christian faithful, urging them to reflect on the essence of the season and uphold its values of sacrifice, love, and renewed hope.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Media and Communications Adviser, Dr Bolaji Akinola, Oyetola described Easter as a period of deep spiritual reflection — a season that calls for renewal, sacrifice, and reaffirmation of faith in the face of trials. He congratulated the people of Osun State and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), encouraging them to remain steadfast in faith and united in the pursuit of collective progress.
“Easter reminds us that after the darkness comes light, and after sacrifice comes victory,” Oyetola said. “It is a time to reflect on the values of love, selflessness, and unshakeable faith — values that should guide our individual lives, our communities, and our state as a whole.”
He praised the people of Osun for their resilience amid ongoing challenges, reassuring them of his continued commitment to their welfare and development despite his current federal responsibilities.
“Though I now serve at the federal level, Osun remains home — the land of my birth, my people, and my greatest inspiration,” he added. “I believe that, together, we will witness brighter days ahead.”
Similarly, the Olukere of Ikere-Ekiti, Oba Ayodele Obasoyin, extended his Easter goodwill to Christians in Ikere local government and beyond. In his own message, the traditional ruler described Easter as a sacred period that symbolises sacrifice and service to God.
Oba Obasoyin urged Christians to emulate the life of Jesus Christ, who laid down his life for the salvation of humankind. He also called for peaceful coexistence and harmony among people of different faiths, stressing the importance of virtues such as humility, love, perseverance, and forgiveness.
“As Christ rose from the dead and brought salvation to mankind, so will Ikere people rise and triumph over all challenges,” he declared, encouraging citizens not to lose hope regardless of present circumstances.
Meanwhile, Oyetola also used the opportunity to address members of the APC in Osun State, acknowledging their loyalty and commitment to progressive ideals. He charged them to remain united, disciplined, and focused on reclaiming the party’s leadership mandate in the state.
“To the APC family in Osun, I say thank you,” Oyetola said. “Let us use this Easter season to reflect and reenergise. Our journey is not over — it is only being renewed.”
He further affirmed the federal government’s commitment, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to delivering the dividends of democracy through bold economic reforms and inclusive governance.
