The Vicar in charge of St. Luke Anglican Church, Birnin-Kebbi, Reverend (Dr) Ayuba Kanta has appealed to the President-elect, Bola Tinubu to approach the issue of insecurity and other challenges bedeviling Nigeria with every sense of vigor.
Reverend Kanta who is also the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) made this appeal as part of his Easter message to Nigeria shortly after the Church service in Birnin-Kebbi on Sunday.
“My call to the President President elect and his team who would be coming on board should approach the issue of insecurity and other challenges facing this country with vigor in a manner that people would know they are working.
“The incoming President should also know that not everybody will like him and not everybody will hate him, now that he is elected as President, he should be magnanimous by embracing everybody from all the six geo-political zones of the country, he should avoid anything that will amount to sentiments, emotions, tribalism or religious divisions,” he advised.
The Clergyman also advised that the President elect should go beyond that slogan of ‘I belong to nobody, I belong to everybody,’ noting that “we have heard that before and now we are all in for it”.
“Nigeria must be paramount in his mind, he should love Nigeria, most of our leaders don’t love Nigeria. He should make sure he do everything to unite this country and if he do so, he will earn the support of Nigerians.
“Prayed, God will lead him and guide him, he should listen to good advice, as some advice will be for selfish interest, he should avoid that and think of Nigeria, he should be just and equal,” he added.
