Samsung is facing a lawsuit over claims that its packaging used an image of Dua Lipa without permission to promote its products.
In the filing, it was argued that Samsung’s packaging was “designed to improperly capitalize on Ms. Lipa’s hard-earned success to promote and sell Samsung’s products”.
The BBC has reached out to Samsung for a response.
The case includes allegations of copyright infringement, trademark infringement, and misappropriation of Lipa’s likeness.
According to the lawsuit, the image in question was taken during her performance at the 2024 Austin City Limits Festival, and she holds the copyright to it.
The legal team stated that Lipa first noticed her image being used on Samsung boxes in June 2025.

Around the same time, fans began sharing posts on social media, referring to the product as the “Dua Lipa TV Box”.
The filing also highlighted reactions from social media users. One comment read they would “get that TV just because Dua is on it,” while another said: “If you need anything selling just put a picture of Dua Lipa on it”.
Lipa’s lawyers claim Samsung ignored “repeated demands” to “cease and desist from infringing on her rights”.
The singer, who is 30, has existing partnerships with brands such as Puma, Versace, and Yves Saint Laurent. She has also worked with Apple, Porsche, and Chanel, and recently became a global ambassador for Nespresso.
Her latest album, Radical Optimism, was released in 2024.
