Delta State capital, Asaba is apparently wearing a new look as the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) intensified cleaning and vegetation control on major roads within the city.
The exercise covered the stretch from Government House Gate to the Army Checkpoint, the Ibori Golf Course Road to Camp 74, as well as the end of Ambassador Ralph Uwechue road.
It is part of the Agency’s ongoing efforts to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment for residents and visitors.

Speaking during the inspection exercise, Mr. Vincent Ohwofadjeke, who represented the Director-General of DSCTDA, Patrick Ukah, reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to environmental cleanliness.
He noted that the Director-General has mandated the agency to sustain the tempo of work because environmental cleanliness remains a top priority, just as he added that what was done was not a one-off exercise but part of a continuous programme to ensure that the state capital remains clean, safe and befitting of its status.
Ohwofadjeke further urged residents to support the government’s efforts by refraining from indiscriminate dumping of refuse and by maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings.
He emphasised that cleanliness is a collective responsibility and that while the government is providing the manpower and logistics, citizens must also play their part, so that together, a cleaner and greener environment can be achieved.
On his part, Fidelis Omovwerha commended the progress of the operation and the dedication of the cleaning teams, stated that steady progress had been recorded in the cleaning and vegetation control on the designated routes, noting that the roads are already looking much better.
He stressed that this reflects the agency’s resolve to deliver on its mandate and assured that the work will continue until every corner of the state capital reflects the standard being pursued.
In his closing message, the director-general reiterated that keeping the state capital clean remains a shared responsibility between the government and the people.
According to him, a healthier environment translates to better quality of life for all residents and assured that the agency will not relent in sustaining the city’s sanitation drive.
