THE Department of the State Services, DSS on Monday paraded a middle-aged woman, Amina Mohammed, for parading herself as the First Lady of Kogi State and had been ‎using the Presidential Villa, particularly the residence of the First Lady and the wife of the President, Hadjia Aisha Buhari as her operational Centres to dupe unsuspecting members of the public.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja yesterday, the Spokesman of the Services, Peter Afunaya disclosed that the suspect adopted various aliases and used the same false identities to defraud several unsuspecting persons before she was nabbed following a petition against her.

AFUNANYA explained that the suspect, Amina Mohammed also known as Justina Oluoha, Amina Villa had some time last month used the false identity to evade protocol and security to gain unauthorised access into the Villa, particularly the residence of the wife of the President for her illegal activities.

According to him, “She took advantage of the fact ‎that personalities as First Ladies, Ministers and certain categories of officials are not taken through rigorous protocol and security checks at the Villa posts.

He disclosed that what even surprised the Services was that the suspect even invited one Dr Alexander Chika Okafor into the Villa under the false pretext that the invitation was at the instance of the First Lady who on the hand was discovered to have travelled on Lesser Haji and not in the Villa during the period.

According to him,”Dr Okafor had complaint that he was fleeced over N150m in respect of a Court of Appeal property in Lagos which Amina had promised to help him to buy through the First Lady as the said property was said to have been part of those under the Presidential Implementation Committee on Lease of Federal Government Properties”.

Afunanya, however, explained that investigation so far had shown that illegal deal was not to the knowledge of the First Lady and that what the suspect did was to use the First Lady’s name and Office as bait to lure and defraud her victims.

At this juncture, the suspect, Amina shouted on the top of her voice to protest the claims of the DSS, saying that she was not a fraudster and that she was not alone in the deal.

Amina went ahead to name one Hadjia Muriatu ‎whom she described as a younger sister to the First Lady and the wife of the President Aisha Buhari, top government officials including Alhaji Babachi Lawal, a one time Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF and others.

‎She claimed that what she did was a normal thing within the government circle once the negotiated amount had been paid to the officials involved in such deals and protested others parties into the failed deal should be prosecuted along with her and that she was innocent of the allegations against her.

While shielding more light into the matter, Afunayan told newsmen that investigation into the natter was still very much in progress in order to get into the root of the matter.

He assured that as the suspect had the claim, the Services would carry out a discrete investigation into her claims and that it was only the suspect that could only reveal all that happened and not the Services.

Afunayan dismissed the claim of the suspect that she had been in the Services’ custody for over four months now.

“Her claim that she had been in our custody for the past four months was not only false but misleading, the truth of the matter is that the incident happened only last month and she has been coming to us from home on our each invitation and even today that we are parading her, she came here herself, she has never been arrested or detained, her invitation here was based on a valid petition against her which we are investigating”, he further declared.
