Talent is not enough, they say, beyond being talented, the place of perseverance, tenacity, mentorship and practice can’t be ignored. When it comes to music, you are bound to go through these routes to be exceptional. Nigeria’s music industry is filled with talented artistes always looking for a way to make it into the big stage, only a fraction of them get close. Yearly, there are new stars attempting for this laurel. Recently the respected music producer, DJ, and audio engineer named Doughnaldmusic joined the train, after years and months of singles release, he finally dropped a full length project.
Real name Uchenna Donald Nwodo, his journey began during his childhood, where he discovered his passion for music early on while working as an audio engineer in his local church. This early experience provided him with hands-on exposure to sound design, mixing, and live production, skills that laid the foundation for his professional career.
By 2019, he began actively working within the Nigerian music industry, co-producing and assisting in the creation of multiple studio projects. After years of mastering his craft, he released a full extended play on April 5, 2025, titled “Soul & Sizzle,” under The Vibes Studios.
The three-track EP features singer Ade James on both the opening and closing tracks. On “Stupor,” which kicks off the EP, Doughnaldmusic profusely pledges his love and faithfulness to his lover. The track is a feel-good song with an enormous bounce and kicks. The vocals are neatly placed on the song, and he is loud and clear about his love for his better half. From the bounce to the long endnote, too many beautiful elements combine to make this song lovely. Perhaps Doughnaldmusic felt it better to showcase his best song as the opening track, which he adequately captured for the fans.
Doughnaldmusic assembled refined instrumentation, including shakers, kicks, synths, log drums, and more to create this six-minute-long track. It features a scenic Amapiano-influenced style, yet Doughnaldmusic brings his music production acumen and his disc jockey skills to bear on this track. It stands alone and is perfectly suited for a club night out.
Since he relocated to the United Kingdom in 2021, Doughnaldmusic has elevated his career to impressive heights. He officially released his debut single “Crank Up” in 2022, however, he had already built years of experience behind the scenes, collaborating with artists and engineers across both continents.
As a music producer, his production credits include “Enter” by DJ Consequence, co-produced alongside Skondtrack and featured on the album *Vibes From the Future*, as well as “Come Back to Me” by Balor. He also co-produced “Agemo,”by Balor & Onlyonemassive.
On the upbeat closing track “For You,” Doughnaldmusic re-enters the R&B frame, this time mixing it with Dancehall and Afrobeats. This particular track shares similarities with the opening one: the same message, different patterns, and delivery. Doughnaldmusic appears to be in the right state of mind when he sings about love, as his sincerity and honesty are too ubiquitous to ignore.
After years of practice, it is exhilarating to witness the sonic output from Doughnaldmusic; it shows how the years of practice and perseverance finally pay off. His sound mixing and innate ability to select the right instrumentals remain unparalleled. With just four months into the year, there is no doubt he will release more tracks or perhaps another project before the year ends.
