LAGOS State chapter of Action Democratic Party (ADP) has warned the three senators representing the state at the National Assembly against moves to block Dr. Muiz Banire as chairman of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), saying doing so would amount to allowing themselves to be used to sabotage the interest of Lagosians.
The party warned that should the senators refuse to refrain from what it described as their “anti-development stance,” it would not hesitate to mobilise the people of the state against them.
It would be recalled that the three Lagos senators had presented a joint petition against former National Legal Adviser of All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Muiz Banire, who is President Muhammadu Buhari’s nominee for the AMCON position, thereby preventing his confirmation by the Senate. Banire hails from Lagos.

The State Chairman of ADP, Nasir Adewale Bolaji, gave the warning in a statement made available to newsmen, saying that in the overall interest of Lagosians, senators must exercise restraint on how they were being pushed by some politicians to work against the nominee from Lagos.
The party boss, while condemning the act, said it was time to move away from those who were ready to destroy every opportunity that “do not pass through their tables,” pointing out that ADP, as people- orientated party, was resolved to lead the struggle for emancipation and would continue to support every good idea and opportunity that would add to the advancement of the state.
“We are not a party to stop the progress of the state for personal gains. As a party who is concerned with the progress of Lagos State, we find it disturbing that lawmakers elected to serve the interest of the state have descended so low as to abandon their duties as legislators and decide to serve the interest of their godfather alone. It is the opinion of our party that personal political war between the two political leaders should not be allowed to affect the overall interests of all Lagosians.
“We are calling on the three senators representing Lagos State at the Senate to forthwith withdraw their rejections to the confirmation of Dr Muiz Banire, SAN as the Chairman of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON, as further opposition would be construed as a direct assault on the state and its people,” .the party chieftain said
“May I warn that ADP would no longer tolerate sabotage of the interest of Lagos State and we will not hesitate to mobilise the people of the state against the senators if they refuse to refrain from their anti-developments stance,” he warned.
